Multimodal transport network Global city on a human scale Whether it be for passengers or cargo, Antwerp’s central location and excellent international connectivity are just a few reasons why it is the destination of choice for business in Europe.
By air In addition to its own high-performance business airport servicing the UK and the Benelux, Antwerp is a mere 40km away from Brussels Airport by road or rail. The largest intercontinental passenger and cargo airport in the country, Brussels Airport has been awarded the most efficient airport in Europe several times over.
By rail The newly extended Antwerp Central Station provides direct high speed rail links to Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam and onward to every major city and airport on the continent. Travel direct to Paris in under 2 hours and the centre of London in less than 3 hours.
By road Antwerp lies at the crossroads of several major European motorways including the E19 connecting Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam; the E17 towards Lille and Paris via Ghent; the E313 towards Germany and the E34 west to the Belgian coast and east to the Netherlands via Eindhoven. Plans to connect the E19 and E17 motorways in both directions will result in even more efficient road traffic in the near future.
By water In addition to its high concentration of shipping lanes and over 15 000 seagoing vessels every year, the port of Antwerp is also serviced by an extensive inland shipping network. Connecting Antwerp with industrial centres in France, the Netherlands and the German Ruhr region, Antwerp’s canals transport over 65 000 barges every year.
