The International Training Centre on Corporate Opportunities (ITCCO) will soon be landing in Antwerp. The new organization will be responsible for organizing courses and issuing certificates under the banner of an important division of the UN (UNITAR). The initiative is ultimately aimed at stimulating businesses around the world to embrace Socially Responsible Enterprise.
The initiative is co-sponsored by the World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation (WJCEF) and the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO). In addition, the Diamond High Council (HRD), AWDC, The Diamond Industry Foundation, the University of Antwerp (an initiative of the Province) and the Antwerp Management School are also all working directly or indirectly on this international project.
Milan and Tel Aviv, among others, were also in the running to attract the international centre. However, Antwerp had the most convincing plus points! The city is internationally renowned as a world diamond centre. The diamond and jewellery trade are precisely the areas the new training centre has in its sights.
The ceremonial opening of the centre is scheduled for 23 May.
In attracting this centre to the city, Antwerp has achieved a dual success: in the short term there is the direct added value of the numerous students who will be attracted from around the world. In the longer term, Antwerp will also lead the way in the struggle for corporate responsibility.
